1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to site owners about how their sites are used. “Similar technologies” — such as local storage, pixel tags, and scripts — perform similar functions and are covered by this policy.
This Cookie Policy explains what cookies and similar technologies the website of The Rod Paige Scholars & Leaders Foundation (“the Site”) uses, why we use them, and how you can manage your preferences.
2. Your Consent
When you first visit the Site, our consent banner (powered by CookieAdmin Pro) tells you about the cookies in use and lets you choose which non-essential categories you accept. Essential cookies are always active because the Site cannot function without them. Non-essential cookies are only set after you give consent.
You can change or withdraw your consent at any time by clicking the cookie preferences link in the footer of any page on the Site. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before you withdrew it.
Where applicable, we honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal as an automatic opt-out of any “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under the California Consumer Privacy Act / California Privacy Rights Act.
3. Categories of Cookies We Use
3.1 Strictly Necessary (Essential)
These cookies are required for the Site to operate. They support logged-in editor sessions, store your cookie preferences, and protect forms against abuse. They cannot be turned off through our consent banner. Examples include WordPress session cookies for site editors, the CookieAdmin consent record, and Gravity Forms anti-spam tokens.
3.2 Functional
These cookies remember choices you make to provide a more personalized experience. They are only set with your consent. The Foundation does not currently use functional cookies beyond those listed above.
3.3 Analytics / Performance
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors interact with the Site (which pages are most read, which links are followed) so we can improve our content. They are only set with your consent. No analytics tools are currently enabled on the Site. If we add an analytics tool in the future, this policy will be updated to describe it.
3.4 Marketing / Advertising
Marketing cookies are used to deliver advertisements relevant to you and to measure their effectiveness. They are only set with your consent. The Foundation does not currently use marketing or advertising cookies and has no plans to share personal data with advertising networks.
3.5 Third-Party Services
The Site embeds or relies on services provided by third parties, including our hosting provider (Bluehost) and Google Fonts (for typography). Each is governed by its own privacy policy. Self-hosting fonts to remove the request to Google is on the Foundation’s roadmap.
4. How to Manage Cookies
- Through our consent banner — open the cookie preferences link in the footer of any page on the Site to change your choices at any time.
- Through your browser — most browsers let you block or delete cookies through their settings. Visit your browser’s help section (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge, etc.) for instructions. Blocking essential cookies may break parts of the Site.
- Through Global Privacy Control — if your browser sends a GPC signal, the Site treats it as an opt-out of any sale or sharing of personal information.
5. Your Rights
In addition to managing cookies, you have rights over the personal information collected through them. Those rights — including access, correction, deletion, portability, the right to object, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information — are described in the Foundation’s Privacy Policy. Please consult that policy for full detail and the process for submitting a request.
6. Changes to This Cookie Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use, in the consent tool, or in applicable law. The “Effective date” at the top of the policy will be updated whenever we make a change.
